In July,
2008 CRYC was honored to host the FCYC weekend meetings, and it
was a great success. Many of our members came out Friday evening
to the Point Bar to join representatives from 35 other FCYC
Clubs, a total of over 200, to celebrate our Club's 40-year
Anniversary in the Florida Council of Yacht Clubs. Commodore
Adams asked the FCYC Commodore Art Ferguson, to cut the cake,
and a good time was had by all.
On Saturday afternoon, many CRYC members joined the FCYC
meetings, upstairs in the Intracoastal Room, and later at the
evening banquet. We were able to host nearly all of the tables
that evening with CRYC board members, and the FCYC delegates
were impressed with the friendliness of all of our CRYC members
and our staff. They were being pampered, and liked it. In the
afternoon, Pat had prepared a Ladies Day event to include a
"duck ride," followed by a make up demonstration, a raffle of
three Mary Frances evening bags, donated by the Schwenkes, and
lunch, and the ladies all had a great time.
The Friday evening dinner was billed as |

a
Mediterranean Feast, featuring our chef's signature
bouillabaisse, and it was outstanding. On Saturday, the chef
prepared another outstanding dinner, and I thought that some of
our guests were going to take him home with them. Of course he
had the help of our great kitchen staff, but how often is it
that you can have two outstanding days in a row without a single
complaint? Even the weather cooperated, and we got lucky with
our hotel recommendations. We were on a roll.
Many of the Council delegates are new, and have never been to
our Club before, and we can all be proud that we put on such a
good show. We can expect to see them back here again soon, by
car or boat.
This all didn't just happen. Thanks to the help from the Board
of Governors and Commodore Adams, and Gerry, (their roses were a
big hit) we were off to a good start, and GM Bill and his staff
deserve most of the credit for the execution. Frankly, I
didn't know how we were ever going to get all of the nametags,
artwork, signs, brochures, hand |

outs,
goody bags and mailings accomplished, with our limited staff,
but both Doug and Marta rose to the occasion. They worked some
late evenings, and with the help of Microsoft Publisher, nearly
everything was done in house, so we got what we wanted, and
saved a lot of money. It was all very professional, and they did
an outstanding job.
Bertram, Wisely and the dining and bar staff followed up with a
great performance, and I'm sure there were many behind the
scenes that did an equally fine job, because you can't have such
a flawless performance without team work, and CRYC sure put it
all together for this weekend. Our guests appreciated it; our
members appreciated it, and Pat and I very much appreciated it.
CRYC is right up there with the best in the Council, and we
proved it this weekend. Thanks again to all, and let's keep it
up.
Bye for now, and thanks again for all that
contributed to make this, such a successful event.
